The FAST SF ballistic helmet is currently one of the most sought-after designs for modern military and tactical configurations. Its silhouette is easily recognizable: a shell with a high cutout around the ears, side rails, a front shroud for night vision equipment, and a design that facilitates the integration of headphones. However, the terms FAST , FAST SF , and High Cut are now used for very different products: genuine ballistic helmets, shock-absorbing helmets, replicas for airsoft, and simple visual copies. A FAST SF helmet should therefore never be chosen solely for its appearance.
These three expressions are often used as if they referred to exactly the same helmet.
FAST originally referred to a family of modular tactical helmets. Depending on the model, a FAST helmet could be ballistic or solely designed to protect against impacts. Therefore, the presence of rails, Velcro, or a front shroud does not determine its level of protection.
The FAST SF features a particularly open design above and around the ears. This cut makes it easier to use:
In the industry, the term "FAST SF helmet" has also become a generic term used to search for helmets with a comparable geometry. At CallOfDefense, we therefore use the following formulation:
High Cut FAST SF type ballistic helmet
Call of Defense headsets are not Ops-Core products. They use a High Cut architecture compatible with many modern tactical devices.
The term High Cut primarily describes the side cut of the shell. The sides are raised to free the ears and facilitate the integration of communication systems. A High Cut helmet can therefore have a silhouette similar to a FAST SF without being manufactured by the brand that originated this platform.
The main advantage of a FAST SF ballistic helmet lies in its integration with modern equipment. This design can accommodate:
